BARC Session Report conducted on 5 April 2025 Smt. Sunitidevi Singhania School students attended the BARC session on the beneficial effects of radioactivity and its wide-ranging applications. It was an amazing experience for the students and teacher. Usually everybody associates fear with radiation , the session illuminates its potential to enrich human life—particularly in fields like medicine, agriculture and industry, possibly all sectors of the country. There was discussion on how radiation therapy is helpful in the medical field and how nuclear techniques are helping in food preservation and crop production. The radiation's role in sterilization of medical equipment and wastewater treatment was explained.Various career opportunities were discussed . There was the hands-on activity where the radioactivity of various substances was tested using Geiger-Müller counters . A fun play quiz was conducted based on the various sessions. There was a skit which summarized the whole session "kam mai hai dum" meaning “with less fuel lots of energy can be produced “. We can lower carbon emissions SMR - more energy can be derived from compact design.... During the skit there was discussion about how nuclear energy can be used in the nation's growth economically and politically .There were 2 characters ie ..Raja ji and Munshi ji who had conversation about how nuclear energy is important in every aspect of the country like medicine, agriculture,waste water treatment , lab grown diamonds etc... Precautions to be taken were also a part of the skit. A picturised presentation of laying the foundation stone of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre was displayed.. The session was inspiring and informative. It fostered a sense of national pride and encouraged students to contribute to India’s nuclear future—where science, safety, and sustainability can work hand in hand to shape a brighter tomorrow. We thank our Principal Mrs. Lakshmi Madhusudan for giving us the opportunity to be a part of such wonderful session.
