The session was designed on combating cyber-crime aimed to raise awareness
about the growing threat of cyber-crime and provide children with practical
strategies and counter measures to mitigate its impact. The main topic raised was
how to protect oneself from cyber threats and become savvy digital citizens.
Children were briefed about the fact that internet is a fantastic place full
of amazing opportunities for learning, creativity and fun. However, its
essential to remember that not everything online is safe, everything you do online
leaves a digital footprint so it is important to protect personal information and
maintain privacy online. The speaker stressed on the point that it is important to
remember, that one is in control of what we share.
Points discussed:
i) Cyber bullying - how can it be hurtful and harmful
ii) Passwords are Iike secret codes and it is important to create strong
passwords and keep them safe from prying eyes.
iii) Phishing is like a sneaky game cyber criminals play to trick us into
revealing sensitive information.
iv) Online gaming and mobile apps can be fun but it’s necessary to play
safely and responsibly.
v) Question answer session was also conducted.
The session emphasized the importance of proactive measures, constant vigilance,
and staying up-to-date with evolving cyber threats to ensure a secure and resilient
cyber environment.
