Our school Smt. Sunitidevi Singhania School had an educational workshop on Safe Touch and Unsafe Touch” .It was conducted for the children of Class 2 on 18th of October 2024 , by trained professionals of The Organisation Arpan. The Rotary Club of Thane, Horizon had organised this session for the school. The objective of the session was to create awareness among young students about personal safety and help them understand the difference between safe touch and unsafe touch in an age-appropriate manner. The child safety experts used simple language and interactive activities to engage the children. The workshop began with a discussion on the importance of body safety, and the children were introduced to concepts like “safe zones” on the body. The speaker explained that certain parts of the body are private and should not be touched by others. Through fun and easy-to-understand learning methodology , the students learned to identify the difference between a touch that makes them feel comfortable (good touch) and a touch that makes them feel uneasy (bad touch). They were encouraged to trust their feelings and always tell a trusted adult if they experience something that makes them uncomfortable. The children were also taught the “No, Go, Tell” rule—saying “No” loudly, running away, and telling an adult they trust. The session emphasized the importance of communicating with parents or teachers if they ever feel scared or unsure. At the end of the workshop, the children had a question-and-answer session, where they asked questions and shared their thoughts. Overall, the workshop was a valuable and informative experience for the Class 2 children, empowering them to protect themselves and stay safe.
