'Topography Unplugged' The school recently organized an impressive Topography Exhibition for the students showcasing their understanding and talent in the subject of geography. The exhibition was thoughtfully arranged to provide an immersive learning experience about topographical features and maps. One of the highlights was an entire floor dedicated to a meticulously painted topography map. This large-scale representation depicted various geographical elements such as symbols, contour lines, settlements, over bridges, post offices, temples, plains, deserts, and rivers. Every detail was carefully curated to give students a realistic view of a typical topographical map, emphasizing the importance of symbols, conventional signs and contour lines in understanding terrain variations. Students of Grade 6 displayed their talents by creating posters explaining key concepts like latitude, longitude, grid systems, the International Date Line, and cardinal directions. Their work helped students grasp the fundamental elements of map reading. Grades 7, 8 and 9 collaborated in groups to prepare physical models and samples illustrating various topographical features. These included models of temples, contour lines, railway lines, plateaus, and valleys. Their practical exhibits complemented the visual map and provided a hands-on understanding of different landforms. The exhibition was inaugurated with great enthusiasm by our very own esteemed mentor, Mrs. Gladys Cabral. She appreciated the students' efforts and commended the teachers for their dedication in making the exhibition a grand success. All students from grades 6 to 10 visited the exhibition, observing and learning about the significance of topography in understanding Earth's physical features. The event was a collaborative effort between the Geography team and the Art department, whose close coordination ensured the exhibition's success and created a memorable educational experience.
