Smt. Sunitidevi Singhania School had organised a workhop on ‘Environmental Consciousness’ for the students of grade 8 which aimed to raise awareness about climate change and the importance of nature. Dr. Vivek Belhekar, the main speaker and his team, emphasizing our dependency on nature for resources like food and jobs. He engaged students with thought-provoking questions, encouraging reflection on how we rely on nature in our daily lives. The seminar featured an engaging interactive survey to explore students' attitudes toward the environment, daily habits, and connection with nature. It raised awareness about climate issues and encouraged students to reflect on their role in protecting the planet. The well-organized survey was fun, relatable, and offered valuable insights into students’ perspectives. The Workshop highlighted historical advancements like the Green Revolution and the invention of iron, which have not only transformed human life but also impacted nature.The alarming fact that Earth has faced five major extinction events in the past, and we are currently living through the sixth—an era of mass extinction. He explained that 95% of species have already gone extinct, and human activities are the primary cause of this crisis. Dr. Belhekar emphasized the importance of choosing career paths that contribute to environmental preservation. He called for more professionals such as, doctors addressing climate-induced illnesses, economists developing sustainable models, and engineers designing eco-friendly infrastructure. He explained that these professions are essential for combating climate change and ensuring a sustainable future. It has instilled in us the motivation to act as the future generation entrusted with safeguarding our planet. This enlightening and motivating experience will remain a significant milestone in our journey toward creating a sustainable future.
